40th Anniversary President's Debate - Friday 20th & Saturday 21st April 2018 - Harpur Trust Debating Society 1970's

Calling further all those involved with the Harpur Trust Debating Society in the late 1970’s and/or Bedford School plays.

Bedford School's Richard Garrett, Nicholas Hopton (Head of English & Master responsible for debating), Bedford Girls’ School's Emma MacKenzie, Bedford Modern School, the Oxbridge Union Societies, Chris McGinty, Rawdon Crozier, Todd Crawford, Shuna Mitchell and Nigel Dawes are working together for what promises to be a truly memorable occasion.

The 40th anniversary Presidents’ debate will be taking place on Friday 20th April 2018, to mark the April 1978 high profile original debate to be held at Bedford School. The original debaters will be returning and the debate will involve current and former students, including contemporaries from around the world. A drama reunion is also taking place in tandem for all those from DAHS and BHSg involved in drama/plays at Bedford School during this era, particularly Andrew Dobbins’ Midsummer and J Pidoux’s Romanoff and Juliet.

The evening will finish with refreshments and an opportunity for the original debaters to catch up.

We are delighted that so many former debaters and performers have confirmed their attendance, along with the Bursars from the Oxford and Cambridge Unions. However, we are still keen to find the BHSg Debating President and several other debaters, as well as a few other performers from, Midsummer’s Night Dream and Romanoff and Juliet. If there is anyone else that might like to be involved and is not a recipient of alumnae communication, please do encourage them to come along.

For a special 40 year reunion weekend of Debating and Drama please let Emma MacKenzie  in The Alumnae Office know if you would like to come back. Emma will pass on your details to Shuna, Chris and Nigel.
