Higher Education and Careers

As an alumnae member we would encourage you to help and support our former pupils and current girls. Whether they are about to enter university, embark on new careers or return to the work place, networking and mentorship provides valuable insights and connections. We believe Alumnae members can benefit from these links.

We will be hosting a number of events throughout the year bringing together Alumnae members for networking opportunties and we hope to develop regional hubs as members come together to share experience and expertise.

BGS Alumnae Mentoring Programme

As we prepare our students for the wider world we look to provide enrichment opportunities which will widen skills and extend knowledge. We are therefore delighted to offer a formal mentorship programme run in conjunction with our Alumnae community, the BGS Alumnae Mentoring Programme. The programme has been successful running since 2017 and we offer in the  region of fifteen pairs of Mentees/Mentors each year. Mentoring offers a unique opportunity for professional growth, both for the Mentees, and the Mentors. By establishing a mentoring scheme, we wish to give current students as Mentees, and past students as Mentors, the prospect of benefitting from this valuable development experience.

Higher Education Ambassadors

Heading to university or college for the first time can be both an exciting and daunting time. To know that there is a welcoming group of Alumnae members will be reassuring to current girls who are making choices and to those Freshers when they first arrive on campus. The Fellowship Fund

The Fellowship Fund was started in 1907 by a number of old girls of Bedford High School ‘to advance the education of girls of Bedford High School’ and since that time has been used to help pupils to continue their education by giving financial support. Its founders envisaged the Fellowship Fund as a link between past and present; offering those of the past an opportunity to show their appreciation of the School in a practical way. The Fund is available to all former students of Bedford High School, as well as for current and former students of Bedford Girls' School. For further information.
